TauBu Girls’ August Movie Picks

August is looking to be a great month for movies. The TauBu Girls share their favorite flick picks.

A Manhattan bike messenger picks up the wrong envelope and rides like hell through the streets, off the walls and over the cabs of New York in “Premium Rush.

  • Hit & Run, August 24: Having a penchant for track car racing, TauBu Girl Amanda is most excited about Hit & Run starring Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard and Bradley Cooper. Shepard plays Charlie Bronson, a former getaway driver who jeopardizes his Witness Protection Plan identity to help his gorgeous blonde girlfriend (Bell) get to Los Angeles – with the feds and his former bank robbing gang hot on their trail. Romance, comedy and some classic car chase action.
  • The Apparition, August 24: TauBu Girl Jamile has a bit of a dark side (and we dig it). So, she’s looking forward to the release of The Apparition, a dark thriller about a couple haunted by a supernatural presence unleashed during a college experiment. It’s an epic head-game of a horror flick starring the gorgeous Ashley Greene of Twilight fame, Tom Felton, who played Draco in the Harry Potter series, and Romanian actor Sebastian Stan. Oh, and Green looks great in a little black hot pants PJs number.
  • Premium Rush, August 24: TauBu Girl Aubrey is another speedster chick with mad athletic skills. She’s itching to see Premium Rush, an action thriller about a Manhattan bike messenger played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, one of NY’s best. Riding a super lightweight, single-gear bike with no brakes, he picks up his last envelope of the day and quickly finds himself riding for his life from a dirty copy who wants that package. Premium Rush was shot simultaneously as Triple Rush, a TV docu-reality series about bike messengers. If you know anything about these guys, you know they’re part athlete, part nutcase, all extreme. In fact, during filming, Gordon-Levitt rode his bike full on into a cap and smashed into the rear windshield, shattering it. Pints of blood and 31 stitches later, he was back to work. Extreme, indeed.

TauBu Girls’ Top Picks for the Coolest Father’s Day Gifts

Give Dad a track ride in a Ferrari 458 Italia for Father's Day.

Sunday is Father’s Day. And if your dad’s one of the cool guys, a department store tie ain’t gonna cut it. Instead, give your dad the gift of an extreme experience he won’t forget. The TauBu Girls offer their top pics for slammin’ Father’s Day surprises.

  • TauBu Girl Ricke’s pick – Shark Diving: Head for the coast and take your dad for a dip with some finned friends. Diving with the sharks, especially in South Florida and the Bahamas, is becoming an insanely popular attraction. And you don’t need to be a master diver. You and Dad can make your dive in a cage, which allows you to get up close and personal with these underwater predators while safely behind bars (not a phrase you typically like to associate with dear ol’ Dad, but you get the point in this case). If you and Pops happen to be Advanced Open Water Certified, then you might get the option of shark diving cageless.
  • TauBu Girl Diamond’s pick – Exotics Racing: If Dad’s more of a landlubber, then pack up and head to Vegas, baby. Make your way to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway for an Exotics Racing experience. Dad gets his choice of amazing jaw-dropping rides like the Lamborghini Aventador LP700, Ferrari 458 Italia and McLaren MP4-12C. Packages range from a 2-lap ride-along, to five laps behind the wheel to 100 laps with a private coach. If Dad’s always dreamed of being a racecar driver, this is the next best thing.
  • TauBu Girl Aubrey’s pick – Air Combat Flying: Is Dad’s always had an eye for the sky, head to Phoenix for a Top Gun Fighter Pilot experience with Fighter Combat International. Dad will take the controls and fly with an actual military fighter pilot on an an as-real-as-it-gets mission. He’ll fly multiple real air combat engagements against the adversary in an Extra 300L, the world’s highest performance aerobatic airplane equipped with a gunsight. Only the bullets are simulated. Dad can choose half-day, two-day or five-day adventure. Or, he can opt for the Air Show Pilot experience flying air show maneuvers like loops, hammerheads, torque rolls, tumbles, etc.

Now, doesn’t that dinner at the local steak joint and pin-striped tie you were planning sound pathetic? Man up and do right by the man who raised you. Got other extreme Father’s Day gift ideas? Post them on the TauBu Facebook fan page.

TauBu Girls Celebrate Cinco de Mayo

How will you celebrate Cinco de Mayo? The TauBu Girls share their plans.

Never mind the fact that you’re not actually in Mexico. Or that you have no Mexican heritage. Or even a Mexican friend that you know of. American partiers all across the U.S. are going to celebrate Cinco de Mayo anyway. Why? Because we Americans know a little something about the fight for freedom, too. And because any reason to eat, drink and be crazy is a good one.

In case you’re not up on your history, Cinco de Mayo commemorates the 1862 battle in which the Mexican Army delivered a legendary ass-whoopin’ on the French Army, despite being ridiculously outnumbered. Add the fact that the French had not lost a battle in over 50 years at the time, and you can see why this is a moment in time the Mexicans will never stop celebrating. For them, it’s a matter of intense national pride. And for the rest of us across the globe, it’s a reminder of the game-changing potential of the underdog with the right determination and the cojones to act upon it. That’s the TauBu way!

We’re not the only ones honing in on the celebration. Each May 5th, Canada celebrates Cinco de Mayo with a skydiving demonstration, the Cayman Islands holds an air guitar competition, and the Mediterranean island of Malta hosts a Mexican beer drinking competition. And here in the good ol’ USA, the TauBu Girls are partying down, too.

TauBu Girl Aubrey is throwing a Cinco de Mayo party for about 100 of her nearest and dearest. She’ll serve up lots of Mexican fare, including a few specialties. She rocks the margarita cupcake and mojito ice pop recipes with a few dashes of TauBu’s newest Golden Margarita and Mojito bottled cocktails.

TauBu Girl Nicole is hitting up a Cinco de Mayo festival with her girlfriends. They’ll wear blazing hot little sundresses emblazoned with the colors of the Mexican flag – red, green and white. And TauBu Girl Edita is taking her celebration South of the Border. She plans to spend the weekend on the beaches of Cabo San Lucas.

Whatever your Cinco de Mayo plans, make sure your ice tubs are stocked with TauBu malt liquor products. Party hard, but party safe.

Where Do You Spring Break, TauBu Fans?

Where are you spending Spring Break 2012? The TauBu Girls have a few suggestions.

Hey, spring breakers – Where are you spending your seven days of drinking and debauchery? The TauBu Girls have a few favorite spring break spots and all of them are easily accessible via travel companies like StudentCity that specialize in spring break and summer trips.

  • Cancun: TauBu Girl Anna loves the beach and party scenes. And nowhere do those two combine better than in Cancun, Mexico. You’ll always see a celebrity of some sort partying down with spring breakers at a Cancun day party, and the local nightlife is legendary. Tours of the Cancun Jungle and the Mayan ruins are plus if you’re inclined to get a little culture in, too.
  • Australia: TauBu Girl Aubrey has been surfing since she was six years old and currently lives in Hawaii where she rides the waves on boards she shapes herself. But any well traveled surfer will tell you it’s hard to beat the waves Down Under. And the Aussies are all too willing to guide you on backpack tours, allowing you to get up close and personal with Aboriginal culture and Outback wildlife.
  • South Africa: TauBu Girl Yashira is definitely the adventuresome type. But she’s got a heart of gold, too, so she loves to work volunteer opportunities into her exotic travels. Her idea of the perfect spring break trip is a week working with the resident elephants and lions at a big game reserve and sanctuary in South Africa with a few culture and nightlife excursions to Cape Town.
  • French Alps: For those who prefer ski suits to swimsuits and riding the slopes over riding the waves, a trip to the French Alps during Spring Break season is the ultimate. TauBu Girl Ginny loves to hit the European slopes, known worldwide for some crazy steep downhill rides. Dozens of resorts offer ski excursions for all skill levels, plus a pulsing nightlife.
  • Las  Vegas: TauBu Girl Jolyne loves to spend her spring breaks right here in the Good Ol’ USA. And by that, we mean Vegas, baby. Swanky penthouse suites, celebrity pool parties, nonstop nightlife and all-day gambling make for an exhaustingly fun trip. Just don’t get caught across the poker table from her. Turns out our sweet Jolyne is quite the card shark. You’ll lose your shirt, no doubt.

Where are you headed for spring break? TauBu wants to know. Leave us a comment and post your pictures on the TauBu Facebook fan page.

Meet Aubrey: March 2012 TauBu Girl

March 2012 TauBu Girl Aubrey

Aloha! I’m Aubrey.  I was born in Stuart, Florida. And yes, before you ask…I am a die-hard Gators fan!  I lived in the country with acres of hayfields, buffalos, and horses.  As a young girl I barrel-raced, danced, and also was a contestant in multiple pageants. One year, I won “Miss Cover Girl”.  I never lived too far from the ocean. My father taught me to surf at age 6. From then on, he couldn’t get me out of the water.

Travelling from Florida to California, I attended jr high and freshman year of high school, where I played powderpuff football and All-Star Cheerleading. We then packed up and moved to Guam.  There I started the cheerleading squad at Southern High School and was Varsity captain until graduation.  I continued as the coach the following year.  My secret get-away on the island was racing cars on Sunday nights at the track. Missing church for an adrenaline rush that my family only recently found out about.  Yes, I can change your oil and tune your engine probably better than you.

After graduating early as a Junior and at the top of my class, we then moved to Paradise..Hawaii. Here, I continue to surf which is my passion.  I shape boards in my spare time.  For employment, I’m a cognitive and speech enhancement Trainer to kids and adults with High IQ, ADD, Dyslexia and Autism.  I love helping people achieve what they feel are mental “mountains” for them. It is the most rewarding job!

From horses to pageants, surfing to cheerleading, racing to dancing, and teaching to top it off…I feel extremely blessed to have been able to experience all of it.  It has made me a well-rounded individual.
